U09 Telecom Center
This station is named after the Telecom Center building which was erected in 1995, one year before the Yurikamome started. The surrounding area is packed with IT, telecommunication and R&D facilities.
This pattern is designed to represent a swarm of flying bats. In the Edo period, bats were used in many design works as the Japanese word for bats (komori) sounded similar to another meaning ‘babysitters’, thus evoking a good connotation.
In China, bats are also a popular design element and considered a symbol of good fortune because the word sounds similar to another word meaning happiness.
